The 6th International Competition for Young Pianist in memory of Volodymyr Horowits
April 14-15, 2005.
The contest was founded with the aim to commemorate Ukraine’s genius pianist Volodymyr Horowits. Since 1995 the contest is held in M.Lysenko Hall of Columns of the Ukrainian National Philharmonic Society, where Volodymyr Horovits was playing in public in twenties of XXth century.
More than 550 young musicians from 27 countries all over the world took part in the competition. The specificity and originality of current terms of the competition consist in the following principle: contest is held in three age categories that gives the opportunity to follow up the development of performer from the primary stage of education (9 years old) to the forming of mature performer (35 years old). Its authority is confirmed by high professional level of participants, competence of jury, which members are famous musicians of the world.
The Competition became the beginning of successful creative biography for many young musicians. Laureates and diploma winners of the Competition performed successfully with solo concerts in prestigious halls of Europe, America, Asia and Australia with well-known Symphonic Orchestra in numerous International Music Festivals.
The organizers of the competition are Kyiv Regional State Administration, the Ministry of Culture and Arts, Kyiv State, Kyiv Highest Governmental Musical College of Gliera, International Charitable Fund of Volodymyr Horowits Competition.
